H Magna International ανακοίνωσε πως πλέον έχει ολοκληρώσει την εξαγορά της Getrag. Η πρώτη εξαγόρασε την γερμανική εταιρία κατασκευής κιβωτίων έναντι 1,88 δισ. δολάρια (1,73 δισ. ευρώ) με την κίνηση αυτή, να αποτελεί μέρος του σχεδίου της Καναδέζικης Magna ώστε να αποκτήσει ηγετική θέση στην αγορά των προμηθευτών εκείνων που δημιουργούν βασικά μέρη των αυτοκινήτων. Νωρίτερα μέσα στο έτος, η Magna πούλησε το μεγαλύτερο τμήμα κατασκευής ανταλλακτικών για τα εσωτερικά των αυτοκινήτων, στην Ισπανική Grupo Antolin έναντι του ποσού των 525 εκατ. δολαρίων.
Η Getrag έχει παραπάνω από 80 χρόνια εμπειρίας στην κατασκευή μηχανικών και αυτόματων κιβωτίων ταχυτήτων. Κιβώτια της Getrag σήμερα χρησιμοποιούν η BMW, η Volvo, η Mercedes, η Smart, η Ford και η Renault. H Magna απασχολεί 14.000 υπαλλήλους σε όλο τον κόσμο, έχοντας 13 εργοστάσια και 10 κέντρα μηχανικής σε εννέα χώρες στην Ευρώπη, στην Ασία και στη Βόρειο Αμερική, με την Magna να έχει εργατικό δυναμικό 139.000 ατόμων.

Magna announces closing of GETRAG acquisition

AURORA, Ontario, January 4, 2016 – Magna International Inc. announced today that it has completed its acquisition of the GETRAG Group of Companies (“GETRAG”), one of the world’s leading independent suppliers of automotive transmissions.
GETRAG’s established product line complements Magna Powertrain’s expertise in engineering and manufacturing and provides new opportunities for growth. In particular, GETRAG is a leader in the market for dual-clutch transmissions (“DCTs”), a segment which is expected to experience high growth globally over the next decade.
